Learn Vedic astrology, calculated honestly

Plain-language guides to nakshatras, rashis, Sade Sati, festival dates and the daily panchang, all calculated with the Lahiri sidereal zodiac and written without fear.

Guides without fear

These pages are for people who want to understand a chart, not be frightened by one. Every position is calculated, not copied from a table, and every classical statement is labelled as one: the texts say, the chart shows. Nothing here asks you to buy a remedy, and nothing is a verdict.

Where to start

If you know your Moon’s star, start with the nakshatra gallery. If you know your Moon sign, the twelve rashi pages explain it, and they also show how it differs from the Western Sun sign. The Sade Sati calculator, the festival pages and the city panchang pages are for dates, and they are calculated for your city, not copied from a printed calendar.

  • Nakshatra gallery: all 27 lunar mansions with their yoni animals, rulers, deities and padas.
  • Rashi pages: the twelve Moon signs with their lords, elements and nakshatras.
  • The nine grahas: what each graha stands for, its dasha and its transit.
  • The twelve houses: what each house covers, read from your own lagna.
  • Sade Sati calculator: your Moon sign, Saturn’s phase and the dates, from your date of birth.
  • Festival dates: seventeen festivals for 2026 to 2028, with muhurat windows for your city.
  • Panchang by city: tithi, nakshatra, yoga and karana for thirty-one cities, filled in live.
  • Kundali Milan: how the 36-point Ashtakoot match is worked out.
  • How we calculate: the method behind every number, in one citable page.

One zodiac, stated every time

Everything here is calculated on the sidereal zodiac with the Lahiri ayanamsa, adopted by the Government of India’s Calendar Reform Committee in 1955. Today it puts the sidereal zodiac about 24°14′ behind the tropical one. A site that shows a different nakshatra or Moon sign for the same birth is almost always using a different ayanamsa. The English text is the legal reference, and the Hindi pages say the same thing.

Questions people ask

What is the sidereal zodiac?

It is the zodiac measured against the fixed stars, which Vedic astrology uses. Western astrology uses the tropical zodiac, measured from the spring equinox. The gap between them is the ayanamsa, about 24° today.

Which ayanamsa do you use?

Lahiri, also called Chitrapaksha, on every page and in the app. It is the standard of the Government of India’s Calendar Reform Committee, 1955, and most Indian software uses it.

Is this a prediction service?

No. These pages explain what the classical texts say and what the chart shows. They do not predict events, they do not sell remedies, and they are for guidance and reflection.

How are the festival dates worked out?

From the sky, not from a table: the lunar month is named by the Sun’s sidereal sign at the new moon, the tithi comes from the Moon–Sun angle, and each festival uses its own classical rule for the day part in which its tithi must prevail. The festival pages state the rule.

Every position on this page is calculated sidereal with the Lahiri ayanamsa from the astronomy-engine library (MIT licence). The classical texts describe tendencies; this page is for guidance and reflection, not a verdict, and no outcome is promised. How we calculate. This is the English page and the legal reference.
