Privacy policy

JYOTISH.info is run by SellnShip Solutions Pvt. Ltd., SCO 97, SellnShip House, Sector 44C, Chandigarh 160047, India (“we”, “us”). We are the Data Fiduciary under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the DPDP Act). This policy says, in plain words, what personal data we collect, why, how long we keep it, who else sees it, and what you can ask us to do.

In short

• We use your details only to give you what you ask for: your kundali, answers and reports, your account and your payments.
• We do not sell your data, and we do not show advertising.
• You can ask to see, correct or delete your data at any time, and you can delete your account yourself.

What we collect

• Birth details you enter: name, date, time and place of birth, and gender if you choose to give it. We work out your kundali and reading from them on our server when you press “Cast”. They are not saved unless you tick the consent box, buy a report or turn on “My day”.
• Your WhatsApp number and name, and any question you type, when you unlock the full kundali, log in or message us. If you tick the consent box, we also save the IP address and browser type of your request, and the approximate city and country that our hosting provider works out from your connection.
• Ask JYOTISH and Prashna: the questions you ask, the answers we write and your ratings. For a Prashna we also keep the place and time you asked from: the city you choose, or your device’s location only if you tap “Use my location”.
• Your account, if you buy answers, JYOTISH Plus or a report: your WhatsApp number (verified with a one-time code), your answer balance, your Plus status, and payment records (Razorpay order, payment and subscription IDs, amounts) with GST invoices that carry your name and number. We never receive your card number, bank login or UPI PIN.
• Reports you buy: the birth details you give, your question (for a one-question report) and the second person’s details (for Kundali Milan). The finished report is kept in your account and opens on a private link. Anyone who has the link can read the report, so share it with care. If you add “reviewed by a jyotishi”, the reviewer reads your report before it reaches you.
• My charts, if you are logged in and save a chart: its name, its relation to you (for example “Me” or “Mother”), and the date, time and place of birth, so that you can pick it above any form instead of typing it again, on any device. Save another person’s chart only with their knowledge. You can rename or remove a chart in your account at any time.
• “My day” messages, if you turn them on: the birth details you gave for this, so that we can send one WhatsApp message each morning.
• Referrals: if you share your referral link, we count the friends who unlock through it and whether each later confirms their number with a one-time code, so that you both get a free answer. The code in the link is not your phone number.
• Feedback you send us: your rating and any comment.
• Technical data any website needs to run safely: IP address, browser type and timestamps, in server logs. We also count visits and taps (for example, how many people cast a chart) without cookies and without storing your IP address, browser details or phone number; a visit is known only by a random code that your browser makes for the day.

If you enter another person’s birth details (the second person in Kundali Milan, or a family member’s chart), please do so only with their knowledge. For the free Kundali Milan we use the second person’s birth details only to work out the match and do not save them; if you tick the consent box, their name is saved with your request. In a Milan report you buy, both people’s details are saved with the report.

Why we use it

• To work out and show your kundali, reading, numerology, panchang and PDF.
• To answer your questions in Ask JYOTISH and Prashna, and to keep your answer balance and Plus membership.
• To write, check and deliver the reports you buy.
• To take payments, issue GST invoices and handle refunds.
• To send the WhatsApp messages you need or ask for: your login code, kundali link, receipts, renewal reminders, replies, and the daily “My day” message if you turn it on. We use your number for nothing else unless you agree.
• To keep the service safe and fair, for example with limits on free answers per number, device and network, and by blocking automated use.
• To understand how the site is used and improve it, from the counts and ratings described above.
• To meet our legal duties, such as tax and accounting records.

Your consent

We use your data on the basis of your consent. You give it when you tick a consent box, verify your WhatsApp number to open an account, or buy something, and each form tells you what it is for. Consent is your choice, but where we need certain details to do what you asked, we cannot do it without them. You can withdraw your consent at any time, as easily as you gave it: write to us, or delete your account. That does not undo what we did before. Some records, such as tax invoices, the law requires us to keep even after you withdraw consent.

AI processing

Ask JYOTISH answers and paid reports are written by an AI model, currently Claude by Anthropic, PBC (USA), from your question and your calculated chart. So some data is processed outside India. We send only what the writing needs: your question and any context you choose to add, your first name, your year of birth, your gender if you gave it, whether your birth time is unknown, and the calculated positions, periods and transits. For a Kundali Milan report, the names you give for the two people are included. We do not send your phone number, your full birth date, your birth time, your birthplace or the place you asked a Prashna from. Anthropic processes this to produce the writing, under its commercial terms, which do not allow it to train its models on this data. We do not use your questions to train AI models either.

Every answer is checked automatically against your chart before you see it. A jyotish reviewer may read a sample of questions and answers, without phone numbers, to keep quality high.

How long we keep it

• Saved leads (details saved with your consent from the kundali, Milan or contact forms): up to 12 months, then deleted, unless we are still serving you.
• Questions and answers: the text is erased after 90 days. We keep only the fact that an answer was used, for your balance and our accounts.
• Login codes expire after 10 minutes. A login session lasts up to 60 days.
• Reports: kept in your account, with their private link, until you delete your account.
• My charts: until you remove the chart or delete your account.
• “My day” details: until you turn it off or delete your account.
• Payment records and GST invoices: as long as Indian tax and company law require, currently 8 years.
• Server logs: up to 30 days. Visit counts: 90 days.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account yourself: Ask JYOTISH → your account → Delete my account. This cancels any Plus renewal, erases your questions and answers, your “My day” setup, and the text and private link of your reports, and removes your name and number from your account. Unused answers end with the account, so please use them, or ask us about a refund, first. Tax invoices are kept as the law requires. If you want anything else removed, write to us and we will do it within 7 working days.

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal data. We share it only as needed for the purposes above:

• Razorpay, our payment provider, to process a payment you start.
• Our AI provider, as described under “AI processing”.
• WhatsApp (Meta), to deliver your login code, receipts and reminders, and when you message us. Their privacy terms apply to that chat.
• OpenStreetMap’s geocoding service, which receives only the place name you type when a birthplace is not in our list (© OpenStreetMap contributors).
• A jyotishi reviewer, if you buy a review, who reads your report and the chart it was written from.
• Our hosting and business-tool providers, who store or handle data for us on our instructions.
• Authorities, if the law requires us to disclose data.

Your rights

Under the DPDP Act you may ask us for a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we use it, for it to be corrected or completed, or for it to be erased (except what we must keep by law). You may withdraw your consent at any time. You may also nominate another person to exercise these rights for you if you die or cannot act yourself. To use a right, write to hello@jyotish.info, or message us on WhatsApp at +91 89688 18888 from the number on your account, so that we know it is you. We reply within 7 working days.

Grievance Officer

If you have a complaint about how your data is handled, please write to our Grievance Officer first. We will respond within 7 working days. If you are not satisfied with the response, you may then complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Children

JYOTISH.info is meant for adults. A parent or guardian may cast a kundali for their child, but accounts and purchases are for people aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect contact details from anyone under 18, and we do not track children or show them advertising. If you think a child has given us their details, write to us and we will delete them.

Cookies and storage

We do not use tracking cookies or advertising trackers. We set two cookies that the service needs to work: jy_s, your login session (up to 60 days, only after you log in), and jy_a, a random device code that helps us count free answers (about 13 months; it is not linked to your name). Razorpay’s checkout sets its own cookies when you pay. The site also keeps a small record in your own browser (localStorage) for convenience, such as your language, your last chart and the number you unlocked with. It stays on your device and is sent to us only when you use something that needs it, such as asking a question.

Security

Traffic is encrypted (HTTPS). Login codes and sessions are stored in hashed form, data is kept on servers we control, and only staff who need it can see personal data. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach ever affects your personal data, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires. If you suspect misuse of your data, please tell us at once.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will change the effective date shown above, and tell you on the site if the change matters to you.
